Task Force 6 is one of 8 Federal Emergency Management Agency Urban Search and
Rescue Teams assigned to
California
. At this time there are a total of 28 teams throughout the
nation. The California teams are managed by the California Office of Emergency
Services (OES). All of the teams are comprised of 70 people who make up the
following disciplines, Search, Rescue, Logistics, Medical, Hazmat, Planning, and
Safety. CATF-6 is a Multi-Agency Task Force. The Task Force is comprised of,
the following fire departments, Riverside Fire Department which is the
sponsoring agency, Corona Fire Department, Norco Fire Department, Hemet Fire
Department, Murrieta Fire Department, Pechanga Fire Department, Newport Beach Fire Department, and Riverside County Fire Department/California
Department of Forestry.
Local emergency room physicians along with fire department paramedics provide emergency medical service to team members in the event they become injured. Canine handlers are provided by California Office of Emergency Services (OES) for detecting and locating trapped victims and local structural engineers provide safety by assessing collapsed buildings and dangerous areas.
